Are you thinking about updating your smartphone or tablet with new apps over spring break? The overwhelming selection makes it a challenge to choose the best ones to download. The CHS library has made this task a little easier by selecting the most helpful educational sites. I downloaded 57 inspirational quotes for teachers from my free Simple K-12 subscription. Many benefit all of us. See if you find the following samples helpful for your daily interactions with others.
"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement, nothing can be done without hope and confidence"--Helen Keller "A hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank... but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child." --Forest Witcraft " If you think education is expensive, try ignorance." --Derek Bok "Seek first to understand and then to be understood."--Steven Covey "Tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That is why it is called the present."--Eleanor Roosevelt (Download from Pixaby) I included a multimedia depository of books for guys from a teacher request. Many students and staff will find these enjoyable spring break reading possibilities. You may also view it from the following link. http://padlet.com/wall/am03u48lt4 I will add more titles with continual recreational readings and additional input.

Red Ribbon Week reminds us of the dangers of alcohol and drug use. I discussed many beneficial resources on last year's blog. They are located at the October 2010 archives section. You will also find a list of YA fiction on this topic at the Book Club of this website. The above illustration states it best; "Drug Free is the Key".
Image located at http://www.cenpatico.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/DrugFree09Final.JPG Over the next few days, local author Jonathan Auxier will host book talks and signings to CJUSD students and staff. He will speak for the first four class periods and lunch at Colton Middle School on Wednesday September 21, 2011. For those who won't get to hear him at Colton Middle, he will appear again at the Colton High School Redlands Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Lugonia Shopping Center on Saturday September 24, 2011. Take a look at Jonathan's website at http://www.thescop.com/ to learn more about his writing.
After I read his Peter Nimble book & listen to Jonathan speak, I will post further thoughts on the Book Club blog on this site. In the meantime, enjoy the Peter Nmble You Tube trailer. Immediately following the CHS Book fair at Barnes & Noble, Scholastic will host two events at Colton Middle and Terrace Hills from Monday October 10-Friday October 14, 2011. CMS and THMS students may purchase books and other stationary items before school, during class visits, and at lunch time. Parents may also visit after their respective teacher conferences. Pay attention to the CMS and THMS announcement for exact times. A percentage of the proceeds will be used to purchase recreational reading materials for the libraries.
